FAQsThe following frequently asked questions have been compiled to assist and inform clients and potential clients. Some are age-old questions and others relate to newer topics. If you have a question that is not answered here please give us a call or submit your question through the Contact Us page.
The number one reason you need a website is that Forrester Research studies indicate that small businesses with a website have grown 46% faster than those without. Secondarily, your competition probably already has one. If you are not on the web a large percentage of your potential customers will not be able to find you. The Yellow Pages are an outmoded method for finding vendors. More people turn to the web everyday for all of their information needs. There are now more than 189 Million Americans online, that is a lot of potential customers. How long will it take to get my new site up and running? That depends on what kind of website we are building for you. A templated site can take days once you provide all of your content and logo if you have one. A completely custom site can take weeks or even months. For very complex sites we often recommend a staggered process for rollout. How do I pay for my website? NETMedia WebWorks will accept Visa, Mastercard, or a check. We require one-third of the total cost at the time of contracting. Once the design is approved and the build-out starts another third of the payment is required. The balance of the fee is required at delivery of the website. Why should I update my website's look-and-feel on a regular basis? Websites get stale and styles change. A website that Jennifer created seven years ago is embarrassingly still on the web. What was cool in 1999 is definitely dated today. Additionally, web browsers are forever changing and what displayed correctly last year may not display properly today. Why should I have you do my content instead of doing it myself? There are many reasons you may have us manage the content of your website. One reason to have us manage the content is that you just do not have the time. Your time is valuable, and can probably be better spent by concentrating on other aspects of your business. Doing your own content may be a very good choice for you if you have the internal resources. However, the primary reason you want to have us do your maintenance is that you can be assured that your content will be implemented in a way that best optimizes your search engine placement. My site just went live, why can't I find myself in the search engines when doing a search without my domain name? Search engines do not add sites to their databases immediately. Most search engines update their databases on a rotating monthly basis, and we have no control over when they make their updates. A good rule-of-thumb is to expect your site to be searchable within one month of completion. What are sponsored links in search engines like Google, and should I get one? Sponsored links are the result of paid advertising. Depending on your organization type this may be a good option for you. Paid accounts work by depositing money into an account that the search engine will withdraw from every time someone clicks on your link. Depending on the package you subscribe to, the cost can be just pennies per click-through. We will help you perform a cost-benefit analysis to determine if paying for positioning is the right choice for you. What are your policies about email marketing? We do not believe in spamming. We comply with the SPAM-CAN Act which stipulates how your email must be sent. For example your physical address must appear within the content of you communication, and you must provide recipients with a method in which they can unsubscribe themselves from your email list. We also have expertise and tools that we use to weed out words and phrases from your content that can be problematic for spam filters. Additionally, we also send both HTML (pretty) and text versions of your message. Many web users do not accept HTML emails. This method ensures that your message is received by everyone. Do not worry about your recipients getting bombarded, they will only receive one message. |
